The group is a key employer in East Anglia and beyond, with a workforce of 330 involved in a total of 14 different companies. While its roots remain haulage-based in Norfolk Truck & Van Ltd and Collease Truck and Trailer Rentals Ltd, it has since diversified and now boasts an extensive property portfolio consisting of starter units, residential and retail properties, large distribution centres and several major development projects. A number of other smaller businesses also operate within the Peter Colby Commercials organisation. Lowestoft-based Polgain Ltd is a well-respected precision engineering company involved in the manufacture of specialist camshafts, and other companies based in this area include Eastern Hardware Ltd, a sheet metal fabrication business, and Contract Plumbing and Electrical Ltd. Easystore, the newest addition to the group, has a total of five sites in Norwich, Ipswich and Colchester for secure self-storage purposes.

Polgain Limited is involved in the manufacture and reconditioning of cams and camshafts, and our modern factory in Lowestoft is well equipped to support the specialist skills of our workforce. Our experienced precision engineers are able to manufacture any cam-related products that may be required, and we supply many OEM customers within the prestige and development automotive industry, as well as those in the bottling, canning, packaging, pharmaceuticals and diesel industries. We operate CNC Landis and Adcole machines for camshaft work and are able to produce camshafts to a maximum length of 1800mm with a minimum inverse radius of 70mm. We also design and manufacture automotive production tooling including cam grinding and turning master banks (gangmasters). We can mill industrial cams in excess of 760mm diameter and grind plate cam profiles of 1300mm.Typical cam types manufactured are face, plate, swing arm, barrel, winding, index and conjugate cams. We offer a friendly, honest, efficient service from quotation to delivery and are happy to collaborate with customers in developing new products.
